Joelinton - Who is the player Newcastle are rumoured to be on the verge of signing?

Joelinton is a 22 year old Brazilian centre forward who currently plays for German side Hoffenheim. He joined Hoffenheim in 2015 and was on loan for two years to Rapid Wien from 2016 to 2018. He has also played for the Brazil u17 team on 4 occasions and scored twice for them. Whilst on loan at Rapid Wien he also played 10 matches in the Europa League, scoring twice. Whilst his main position is centre forward, he has also played 14 matches as a second striker.

Last season, in the Bundesliga, Joelinton had 28 appearances and bagged 7 goals. He also had 5 assists. On top of playing 5 Champions League matches and scoring once, he featured in 2 matches in the DFB Cup, scoring 3 goals and gaining an assist. Overall last season he picked up 7 bookings.

Standing at 1.86 metres (6 ft 1 in) , Joelinton would provide a strong presence up front and could play as a target man up front, similar to Rondon. It has been suggested the fee would be in the region of £36m. He would be a good addition to the squad, particularly considering our only forwards are currently Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto.

The youngster has been dubbed the new Roberto Firmino, with some suggestions he could be even better than Firmino. Either way, Joelinton has lots of potential and would be a good addition to the squad.
